Since 1973, Altan Bottier has embodied a Parisian vision of fine shoemaking shaped by bespoke craftsmanship, exceptional leather, and the art of hand-applied color.
Founded by Şükrü Sensözlü, the house began as a bespoke workshop and built its reputation on an exacting approach to fit, construction, and finish. Over time, Altan Bottier developed a singular identity in which traditional shoemaking, artisanal patina, and personalization come together in a distinctly refined expression of men’s footwear.
A Shoemaking Heritage Since 1973
Şükrü Sensözlü began training as a bootmaker in Konya, Turkey, at the age of eleven, before continuing his apprenticeship in Paris with leading specialists in bespoke footwear for men and women. In 1973, he founded his own workshop and named it Altan after his son, born that same year.
From the beginning, the house attracted a demanding clientele and went on to work with the film industry, museums, and the Comédie-Française. Long dedicated exclusively to bespoke shoemaking, Altan Bottier established itself through a vision of the shoe as both an object of precision and an object of style.
In 2012, the house opened its boutique at 11 rue Lincoln, Paris 8th, a space dedicated to presenting its latest creations and its distinctive approach to leather, color, and craftsmanship.
The Signature of Color
In 1998, Altan Bottier introduced a ready-to-wear collection developed to exacting standards and distinguished by a feature that has since become one of the house’s signatures: full color personalization. At Altan Bottier, color is not a surface effect, but an integral part of the shoe’s identity.
Applied entirely by hand in the Paris workshop, each patina is the result of layered color work, artisanal technique, and a deep understanding of leather. From deep blacks and nuanced browns to Cognac, aubergine, and vivid blues, color enhances the lines, relief, and volume of the shoe while giving every pair a singular character.
